Frustrated..

Why doesn't my blog look as cool as everyone elses????  I don't get it!  It is restricted to this awful strip down the center of the page, and limited by the layouts offered.  How do I make it better!!!

A Sign of Intelligence?

Nightline interview with George Bush on Monday Dec 8th...  after 8 years, some of the most intelligent words I've ever heard him say...  he didn't sound like a narrow minded boob for the 1st time ever!

It's feeling like fall

Okay, where did my pretty leaves go?!  That storm blew threw on Wednesday night, bringing downpours of rain, hail and leaves!  I told the kids it reminds me of the Whomping Willow in Harry Potter, when it sheds its leaves... one big instantaneous shake, and.... POOF, all the leaves are on the ground!  Beat the heck out of my trees, house, fence and cars!  Poor Gregg!  Just finishing up the roof...  He was trying to get some sleep, and was "pounded" awake by the shaking of the house!  Amazing what little balls of ice can do, when falling at shocking speeds from the sky!  Also left behind, wind and cold air... I know, I'm being a baby, but I don't like the cold!

We had Kyle's 12th birthday this week!  Another night of family get together (always fun and hectic) at Hideway Pizza, and then back to the house to add a little misery to the pizza laden... homemade ice cream and cake!  The booty is always good from the family.... clothes, legos, books and movies.  Then last night, we took him and his friends out to a movie.

Emily is finally conquering the MRSA!  That was NOT fun.  Valuable lesson learned:  if you think it's a spider bite, think again!!  Two visits to the doctors office to have that thing opened up, 10 days of oral antibiotics, 5 days of topical, and a month of Hibicleanse baths!!  Thankfully, not hospital stay (guess we caught it early enough).

As for the election.  I know I will not be the most popular among those that I know, but I am feeling positive about our future.  I have been extremely disappointed in the actions of those who did not vote for Obama.  I never thought this election was about race (call me naive).  But since the votes were counted, reading posting, and listening to people talking, I am just sad.  I was never a fan of Bush.  I don't feel anything positive has come of his term.  However, I would never go as far as calling him a terrorist, or perpetuating the type of propaganda that would turn gullible people into fear mongers!  Folks, use your god given right to think for yourself.  Quit buying into mass mailings of photoshopped pics, and racist, hateful emails!  This is a man who has already politically served this country for years.  He has received the trust of those in his home state, why should the nation not follow that lead.  He is an extremely well educated individual who has the ability to lead this country, and should have our support (whether you voted for him or not).  I am not a politically charged person.  I did my best to weed out all the "crap" during the election, and make a decision on my own.  Hard to do when you have "strategists" trying to make things seem better than they are for your own campaign, and worse than they are for your competitors campaign!  We all know he is not a terrorist... get real!  And for those of us from LDRP... we also know that his birth certificate also has the "Caucasian" box checked!  This is a worldly man, who has experience much in his life, and has the ability to see several different points of view.  What an asset as a leader.  We need a new face for this country.  A confident, well spoken, worldly face.  No matter who was elected, we know this country could not be fixed over night.  Let's do our part to be part of the solution, and not perpetuate the ongoing problems.

Okay, off the soapbox.  Enjoy the cool, but sunshiny day!

Rainy day...

So nice and quiet here this morning....  Emily is at school.  Kyle is piddling with making a first aid kit for boy scouts.  Gregg and Cody are still asleep.

I know, you're saying "what kind of teacher are you... aren't you supposed to be schooling the boys!".  Well, we are still in the midst of the roofing adventure here.  Gregg is going to finish this damn thing come hell or (we've been very close to this one!) high water!  I didn't blog the "it's raining in my bedroom" a couple weeks ago.  Yep... 4am and drip......... drip....... drip.....drip....drip...drip..drip drip drip!  Not fun (especially for my husband!).  So, last night, they stayed up till 3am, making sure the rain stayed OUTSIDE this round!

Oh look, they're up now!  And, it's raining again!  Don't think much will get done on the roof today.  There goes Gregg, into the attic with the flashlight to make sure the tarps are holding up.

Well, guess I should get some school work done now that everyone is alive.  AROC is at 7p tonight, so I better get done before heading up to work for a fun filled evening of nursing competencies!

It's been a while...

Not like anyone reads this or anything, but it has been a while since I was here last.  I know Cody has to have grown at least 2" (it's really scary how fast these boys get to growing!).  It's a quiet morning here.  Gregg is still in bed (worked last night), Cody is with Nana and Papa, and mom took on the brave task of watching 4 grandkids last night (Megan, Kyle, Emily and John)!  The cats finally made me get up and feed them this morning (I don't think they got fed last night... I was at work).  They do this thing where they run circles over the foot of my bed, then under the bed.... over, and over, and over....  Now, Lulu is in the bottom basket of a babydoll stoller, and Snowflake is punching her from above (endless entertainment).

Fall break has been pretty easy going.  It lasted a bit longer than just Thurs and Fri, though.  Emily was sick M, T, and W, so she stayed home from school, and missed the zoo trip on Wed with her class.  Truthfully, I was kinda glad, it was an ugly day.  So Thurs, we all packed up and went with Amy and her kids and grandma.  It was the absolute PERFECT zoo day!  Even for fall break, surprisingly few people there.  Work returned for the weekend for me.  Day 3 will start @ 3p today, and then I'll be off until next Friday.

We are trying to get school pushing on again.  With Emily home sick, and cramming to get the back side of the roof finished, not much got accomplished this last week.  I've gotta go by Kinko's and pick up work books for NaNoWriMo!  What?  NaNoWriMo!  Yes, you heard me right!  It is National Novel Writing Month.... eeewwww!  No really, it sounds like fun; I even signed up!  The kids start Nov 1st, and the goal is to write a novel by midnight Nov 30th.  It is supposed to be silly and fun, ignoring the traditional rules.  I have had a terrible time getting the boys to write, so I'm hoping this will head us in the "write" direction (hehehe!).

I have also joined Facebook, and got Amy to do the same!  After hearing it was a bit of a bore in comparison to MySpace, I hadn't been eager to join.  But, this week I took the leap!  It is actually quite fun, and not nearly as hectic as MySpace.  I have linked my blog, shutterfly, etc to my Facebook page.

Well, my feet are getting cold, so I'm going to go pull some socks out of the dryer, and attempt to get something done before heading off to work today.  Hopefully I'll get back on and write again soon!

Why?

I adore reading what others (especially other moms) are putting out there!  Some, you have to think, are truly "supermoms".  And what's even worse, they make it sound like they're NOT a supermom!  Exactly how many things can one person do in a day (okay, do WELL in a day).  I can go from motivated to asleep in a 10 seconds flat... unless that is, I actually want some sleep... then, forget it!  I here so many great ideas for food, functionality, fun... where do they all go?  So, can I organize it here?  We'll see.  Right now, it is off to guitar with Cody... 1st, I have to get him off of the roof... so please, excuse me a moment.

And, by the way... why is that damn picture below not fitting the page??
